RGB J0044+193: THE FIRST RADIO-LOUD NARROW-LINE SEYFERT 1 GALAXY

ABSTRACT

In a recent optical identification program for radio-loud active galactic nuclei, originating from a correlation of the ROSAT All-Sky Survey and the Green Bank 5 GHz Survey, the object RGB J0044+193 was identified as the first radio-loud narrow-line Seyfert 1 (NLS1) galaxy. We propose to observe this peculiar object for 60 ksec with ASCA in order to determine its broad band X-ray spectrum. The hard X-ray spectra are particularly well suited to derive constraints on physical models for NLS1s as a class and their relationship to ordinary Seyfert galaxies. We intend to compare the ASCA spectrum of this radio-loud NLS1 galaxy to previous observations of radio-quiet NLS1 galaxies.
