X-RAY EMISSION FROM PROTOSTAR CANDIDATES IN TAURUS}


ABSTRACT

There is little observational information about protostars because they are embedded in dense dust envelope. The hard X-ray can penetrate such dense envelope,therefore observations with ASCA, which has imaging ability and detection sensitivity of hard X-ray, is most effective to investigate directly protostars. In fact, the hard X-ray emission has been detected by ASCA from some protostars, but the emission mechanism has not yet fully understood. To investigate X-ray emission mechanism in protostars , we propose an observation of protostar candidates in Taurus molecular cloud. From the ASCA observation, we can reveal the magnetic activity and the nature of ambient plasma of protostars.
