ASCA OBSERVATION OF THE NEAREST LENSING CLUSTER.

ABSTRACT

Recent observational studies of gravitational lensing clusters have revealed that the masses from lensing analyses are often more massive than that from X-ray analyses by factor of 2-3. However, it has been difficult to explain why this discrepancy arises, because of the lack of detailed information of the ICM state within the very center of distant lensing clusters due to the poor spatial resolution of X-ray spectroscopic observations. Here we propose ASCA observation of the nearest gravitational lensing cluster Abell 3408(z=0.04). Thanks to the low redshit of this cluster, we can observe the X-ray properties within the Einstein radius and can expect to resolve the lensing mass problem.
