SURVEY OF X-RAY SOURCES IN THE MAGELLANIC CLOUDS

ABSTRACT

Large and Small Magelanic Clouds have extremely ideal characters for the systematic study of X-ray sources. The aims and expected fruit of this survey are (1) Comprehensive study of X-ray source populations, which reflect the star-formation history in the Magellanic Clouds, (2) Discovery of new X-ray pulsars, (3) Discovery of non-thermal X-ray emission from SNRs, which leads to a quantitative estimation of cosmic ray acceleration in SNRs, and (4) To obtain the complete X-ray images including both discrete sources and diffuse X-rays. A new X-ray view of the Magellanic Clouds will be established through this survey.

TARGET 1

IN FACT, EXPOSURE TIME OF EACH POINTING IS 40-KS. SINCE THE RPS SYSTEM REJECTS SUCH A SHORT-EXPOSURE OBSERVATION, I HAD TO CHEAT RPS BY SETTING THE EXPOSURE 200-KS.
