Extended hard emission in HCG62

ABSTRACT

Through re-analyzing the ASCA data of $\sim$ 25 galaxy groups, we found a hard extended emission from $\sim$ 10 groups. Obtaining a clear surface brightness distribution of the emission is a key issue to clarify its nature and emission mechanism. We therefore propose additional 300 ks observation of HCG62 group, which is one of the groups with most significant extended hard X-ray emission. In spite of its modest angular resolution, ASCA GIS detectors are suitable for observing largely extended objects. This is because of its very low background level, and moreover, the good reproductivity of it, thanks to the hard study and long experience on the instrumental background. Both of these characteristics are essential in observing largely extended emission, such as this case.
