5.1 Applications

SPECANAL is merely a filter between the OSSE database and the researcher. It gives you control over the data you wish you view and gives you a rough idea of just what OSSE saw. It does not, however, do any real science and generally does not present the data in the most desirable form. This requires much more interaction from you, the researcher.

This section gives examples of how you can extract more information from the data extracted by SPECANAL. These files can be generated by either performing your own SPECANAL run on the low-level OSSE data or you may retrieve this files already generated from the COSSC High- level archive. As mentioned before, this is not meant as an exhaustive tutorial. You are encouraged to experiment.
