Making PS files from LaTeX runs

A common requirement, once one has successfully run LaTeX on a document is to obtain a hard-copy. The most common way of doing this (at least in the OGIP) is to use the dvips program. As its name suggests, dvips takes the *.dvi produced by LaTeX and converts it to a postscript file which can then be printed on any postscript-compatible printer.

To run dvips on a file called (say) yourfile.dvi simply:

dvips yourfile
which will result in a file called yourfile.ps. There are many optional arguments to dvips ... section incomplete
