There is an upcoming mission launch (Integral in October 2002) data from which will
start flowing into the co-located Integral SSC in 2003. In the next 3 years, there
are several more new missions that plan to archive data at the HEASARC:
Swift (late 2003 launch), Astro-E II and GLAST (2005 launches)
These new missions are expected to each generate 400-1000 GB of data per year,
so that the time for the HEASARC Archive to double its present size is predicted
to be about 2.5 years.
Very rough HEASARC archive size projections:
Date Archive size
May 2002 2700 GB
May 2003 3200 GB
May 2004 4500 GB
May 2005 6000 GB
