2.3 Effective Area of the XMA

The collecting area provided by the XMA is a function of off-axis angle and energy due to combined effects of:

  1. the decrease in the reflectivity of the gold coating with energy,
  2. vignetting (including obstruction by the XMA support structure)
  3. scattering by the XMA.
