Method of Determination

Illuminating the PSPC with a monochromatic X-ray source, the resultant pulse height distribution can in general be described by a polya function (although there are systematic differences at lower energies, [Jahoda and McCammon1988]).   Measurements in the lab, covering the energy band 0.1-2.0keV result in a specific relationship between the pulse height channel K and the X-ray energy E   at a certain position and given detector parameters. From this information, the photon redistribution matrix is derived.
