# TESS Program G09152 Title: Probing Pulsar Wind Interaction: Linking Redbacks And Transitional Millisecond Pulsar PI: Veresvarska, Martina - Institut De Ciencies De L'Espai (Ice-Csic) Type: MINI Summary: Millisecond pulsars have greatly increased in number thanks to the detection of their GeV emission with Fermi. Those in compact binaries with non-degenerate companions, the redbacks, challenge the evolutionary link between neutron-star low-mass X-ray binaries and rotation-powered radio pulsars, with three systems observed to transition between these states. Long-term optical monitoring of systems in either state can identify candidates likely to transition, probe the role of the intra-binary shock between pulsar and companion winds, and constrain the conditions for disc formation and disappearance.
