HEXTE Deadtime Correction Now Available for Realtime Analysis

May 19, 2000

HEXTE Deadtime Correction Now Available for Realtime Analyses. It is now possible to calculate HEXTE deadtimes from the realtime data products made available by the SOF shortly after the observations are performed. Since March 2000, the FH53 and FH59 files necessary for calculating HEXTE deadtimes have been included with the realtime data (available at https://xtesof.nascom.nasa.gov/pub/FITS) and the more complete SOF "production" data ( https://xtesof.nascom.nasa.gov/pub/FITS/production). (Technical issues prevented these files from being included previously.)

With these files, you can now use the HXTDEAD tool, and perform a complete extraction of HEXTE spectra and lightcurves by following the normal procedures for working with realtime data.

As a reminder, the version of REX released with FTOOLS 5.0 also now handles HEXTE processing. So, don't forget to look at your high-energy RXTE data!
