Response Matrix Bug Identified -- New PCARSP

A bug has just been discovered in the code that generates PCA response matrices. For cases where all layers are included in the spectrum, the currently-released version of PCARMF (called by PCARSP) underestimates the effective area at lower energies.

Further details, with examples, can be found at Keith Jahoda's web page. For the time being, a simple workaround is to construct the matrices separately for each layer using PCARMF, and add the results using ADDRMF. To make this more transparent to users, the GOF has released a patched version of PCARSP which works around the problem. The PCA Team intend to provide a completely-fixed version of the PCARMF code within a month, which we will then make available via these pages. Check back frequently for the latest news ...
