Applying The 6.27.2 Patch To Your Existing 6.27[.1] Installation

    See the HEASOFT 6.27.2 Release Notes for more information about this patch.

  • For users of the source code installation:

    A patch installer mechanism is available to aid you in updating your existing 6.27.1 (or 6.27) source code installation. To use it, simply download the patch installer script , save it in the directory containing your existing heasoft-6.27.1 (or 6.27) source code folder, and then run it:

      $ sh hdpatch_6.27.2

    This script will retrieve the necessary patch file (requires wget), then rebuilds and re-installs all of the necessary components. It may take a while to finish, so please be patient while it runs.

  • For users of a pre-compiled binary installation:

    First download the 6.27.2 binary patch file, then go to your existing heasoft-6.27.1 (or heasoft-6.27) directory and then into the architecture specific directory underneath it, for example:

      $ cd heasoft-6.27.1/x86_64-pc-linux-gnu-libc2.27

    Then copy and unpack the patch file here:
      $ tar zxvf heasoft-6.27.2binary_patch.tar.gz

    The "fversion" task should then report "23Apr2020_V6.27.2".
