Session E1.3. The Next Generation of X-ray Observatories
Event Information
The Next Generation of X-ray Observatories event will provide an in
depth review of future plans for new missions to come over the next
25 years. The long term science drivers will be presented and set the
technology challenges to be met by future missions. These science
drivers include resolving the event horizon of black holes so as to
directly observe the effects of strong field general relativity and
observing the formation of the first objects in the universe at
redshift 10 to 20. New technologies in X-ray optics and detectors to
enable new science capabilities will be reviewed and future missions
in various stages of planning discussed.
