"The X-ray Universe 2011":
abstract submission and registration deadlines
==============================================

We take the opportunity to remind on the deadlines for the abstract
submission and registration for the conference "The X-ray Universe
2011", see http://xrayuniverse.esa.int/

Abstract Submission deadline: 21 March 2011
Deadline for Grants applications: 21 March 2011
Early Registration deadline: 28 April 2011

RGS Calibration Status Document updated
=======================================

A new version (6.0) of the document describing the current status of
RGS calibration is now available at:

        http://xmm2.esac.esa.int/docs/documents/CAL-TN-0030.pdf

This document includes information on the effect of contamination in
the long-wavelength sensitivity of the detectors, on pile-up in RGS
spectra, and on how to use, in simultaneous analysis of EPIC-pn and
RGS spectra, the results of the detailed comparison between both
instruments (the "RGS-pn rectification")

OM Calibration Status Document updated
======================================

A new issue (6.0) of the XMM-Newton Optical and UV Monitor Calibration
Status document has been released.

This new version of the document contains updates on several items:

* clarification of the definition of the photometric zero points
* new bad pixels table
* current trends of the time sensitivity degradation, dark current
   and flat field levels
* large scale sensitivity degradation
* calibration sources
* errors budget

The document is available at:

       http://xmm2.esac.esa.int/docs/documents/CAL-TN-0019.pdf

Virtual Machines now available for SAS 11.0
===========================================

Virtual machines (32-bit and 64-bit versions) for SAS 11.0 have been
produced and are available at the usual site for SAS downloads:

         http://xmm.esac.esa.int/sas/current/download/

The virtual machines have been assembled on Linux Fedora 14 32-bit and
64-bit respectively, and are tested to work under Windows, Linux and
MacOs.

Workshop "The Starburst-AGN Connection under the Multiwavelength
Limelight": registration open
================================================================

The European Space Agency (ESA) Space Science Faculty is pleased to
announce the opening of the registration to the international workshop
"Starburst-AGN connection under the multiwavelength limelight". The
Workshop will be held at the ESA's European Space Astronomy Centre
(ESAC), Villanueva de la Canada (near Madrid, Spain) on 14-16
September 2011.

Deadline for registration and abstract submission is 17 April 2011.

Perspective participants are encouraged to visit the workshop web
page

http://www.sciops.esa.int/index.php?project=ESACFACULTY&page=workshop_starburstAGN2011

or contact the workshop organisers at sbagn_esac2011@sciops.esa.int.

The ESAC Faculty offers 5 grants to cover travel and accommodation
expenses for graduate students. Applications should be sent by 18
March 2011. The grant allocation conditions and application forms are
available on the Workshop web page.
