ASCA Weekly
Dear ASCA users:
The replacement of S1 gyro to S2 gyro and first tuning of on-board
parameters have been successfully finished till December 3. Attitude
pointing stability after locked to the tracking stars is fine but yet small
errors arose after large angle maneuvers at the time after December 3,
which were adjusted every time at the contact passes of KSC. Based on
the result of a large angle maneuver on December 4, we have refined the
on-board ACS parameters on December 7. After then, the two large angle
maneuvers between Dec. 7 and Dec. 8 were successful with required
accuracy.
Since December 2, we have been observing the scheduled targets in
parallel with the refinement of the ACS system. I believe that we are able
hereafter to continue stable operation along the scheduled observation
plan. High priority targets, which were scheduled but left unobserved
during the event, will be rescheduled in the revised long-term timeline.
The revised long-term timeline will be released next week.
In the following, I have attached an weekly observation plan for the rest of
this year.
Fumiaki Nagase
Note for the last ASCA Weekly:
3C273 and 3C279, both allocated on Dec. 16, are both the first
10 ks of the four times observations simultaneous with GRO
observations. 3C273 is a Japanese proposal by F. Makino and 3C279 is
a joint Japan/US proposals, by F. Makino (PPI) and J. Kurfess (Co-PI).
