ASCA weekly

Dear ASCA users:

I am sending a revised ASCA observation schedule for the period of August 26
to September 6. Nothing a change in the schedule itself but the time critical
target I mentioned in the comment of the previous mail is wrong. It is
not IRAS 03158+4227 but MCG 8-11-11. Sorry.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Next release of weekly ASCA schedule will happen after the week of August 6.
Those who have observations in August and are planning to take a long
vacation in July-August should contact with ISAS/NASA contact scientists
as early as possible to confirm their observation plan, such as pointing
coordinates, observation modes etc.

The time critical target MCG 8-11-11 is allocated in this week in
coordination with the CGRO/OSSE observation. The Sun-source angles of
the two pointings are 72 and 75 degrees, respectively. Since this angle is
significantly smaller than 90 degree (or telescope is inclined toward the
Sun), significant degradation of the SIS data is suspected due to the DFE
level change at the day-night transitions of the satellite and the light
leakage on some chips of the CCD cameras. The observer of this target should
examine carefully the SIS observation modes in consulting with the contact
scientist. We do not guarantee the possible degradation of the SIS data for
this kind of cases that are due to the requested time constraint.
