SATELLITE STATUS; AMCS SOFTWARE UPDATE
======================================
All operations during the last month ran without major problems.

As a precautionary measure for the possible event of another gyro failure
a new one-gyro AMCS mode has been developed. Tests of the new AMCS
software at the GSOC simulator were successfully completed on July 3rd,
1995. Should either one of the remaining two gyros stop functioning the
corresponding software version is now ready to be loaded into the
onboard computer.

SELECTION OF AO-6 PROPOSALS
===========================
During the recent meeting of the ROSAT IUC the list of targets
accepted for observation during AO-6 has been finalized. The list
will be available in a few days from the ROSAT Service Area.

EUV ALL-SKY SURVEY IMAGES FROM THE ROSAT WFC
============================================
A database has been released of images generated from the ROSAT Wide
Field Camera (WFC) all-sky EUV survey. The survey (see Pounds et al.
1993, MNRAS, 260, 77; Pye et al. 1995, MNRAS, 274, 1165) was conducted in
two wavebands, designated `S1' and `S2', centred at around 100 and 140 A
respectively. The database consists of approx. 13500 S1/S2 image pairs in
each of HDS, FITS and GIF formats. Each image is 160x160 sq.arcmin in
extent, with a pixel size of 1x1 sq.arcmin, and an overlap of approx. 40
arcmin between adjacent images.

The survey image database complements the recently published 2RE
Catalogue (Pye et al. 1995; BROWSE table ROSWFC2RE). The images and
light-curves associated with each of the 479 2RE sources can be extracted
directly via the ROSWFC2RE database. The light-curves are described in
McGale et al. (1995, MNRAS, in press; a preprint version is available
on-line, see below).

The 2RE Catalogue, preprint versions of the Catalogue and light-curves
papers, and the WFC all-sky survey database of images, are available
on-line from the Leicester Database and Archive Service (LEDAS). A
summary of the various access methods is given below.

Via telnet to ledas.star.le.ac.uk, log-in as "xray" (no password req.),
then:   browse roswfc2re	(2RE Catalogue)
    or	...
	browse roswfcsi		(WFC all-sky images)
	...

Via anonymous ftp to ledas-ftp.star.le.ac.uk, then:
	cd rosat/2re/cat	(2RE Catalogue paper)
	cd rosat/2re/lcurve	(2RE light-curves paper)

Via WWW, the ROSAT-WFC EUV Survey home page URL is:
             http://ledas-www.star.le.ac.uk/rosat_euv

The LEDAS also offers an interactive browser for the WFC survey images;
this can be accessed by external users via the World-Wide Web. The
browser accepts a single celestial location (RA, Dec) and displays the
pair of images derived from the survey data taken in the S1 and S2
filters, covering the specified position. Simple image processing
facilities are provided, together with the option to transfer the images,
in either FITS or HDS format, to the user's own computer for further
analysis. The URL of the WFC Survey Image Browser is:
             http://ledas-www.star.le.ac.uk/WFCimage

INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE 'R"ONTGENSTRAHLUNG FROM THE UNIVERSE'
==============================================================
Most recent information on the conference is available via the ROSAT
Service Area (directory general/xray-conf; access see header) or
via www services, see  http://rosat_svc.mpe-garching.mpg.de/xray-conf/
