XMM-Newton AO-11 Long Term Plan
===============================
The scheduling of the eleventh cycle of XMM-Newton observations,
AO-11, started on 1st May 2012 and is expected to finish at the end of
April 2013.
On 8th May, the long-term scheduling plan for the AO-11 period has
been released at:
http://xmm.esac.esa.int/external/xmm_sched/advance_plan.shtml
Principal Investigators of pending XMM-Newton observations can check
this plan, especially if scheduling constraints were granted following
the Time Allocation Committee recommendations.
Conference Announcement: XMM-Newton Science Workshop 2013
=========================================================
The XMM-Newton Science Operations Centre will be organising a workshop
in the spring of next year, with the following subject, dates and
venue:
The Fast and the Furious:
Energetic Phenomena in Isolated Neutron Stars,
Pulsar Wind Nebulae and Supernova Remnants
22nd - 24th May 2013
XMM-Newton Science Operations Centre at ESA's
European Space Astronomy Centre, Madrid, Spain
Aims and Scope of the Workshop:
High-energy observations have strongly changed our view of isolated
neutron stars, the nebulae powered by the relativistic winds of
energetic pulsars and the non-thermal emission from supernova
remnants. The study of these objects in the last few years has taken
advantage of a multiwavelength approach, thanks to the combination of
powerful X-ray satellites, with facilities operating in the gamma-ray
range and up to the highest energies covered by ground based Cherenkov
telescopes.
The purpose of this Workshop is to discuss the most recent results on
the high-energy phenomena occurring in isolated neutron stars and
related objects like pulsar wind nebulae, supernova remnants and
gamma-ray binaries.
The Workshop web page is available at:
http://xmm.esac.esa.int/external/xmm_science/workshops/2013_science/
Details on the registration and abstract submission process as well as
on important dates will be posted there in due time and announced in a
future XMM-Newton Newsletter.
European Week of Astronomy and Space Science:
Deadline for abstracts submission
=================================
ASTRO-H Special Session at the EWASS
------------------------------------
As announced in a previous issue of this Newsletter (#132) a one-day
Special Session will be devoted to the Japanese ASTRO-H mission on 3rd
July 2012 at the European Week of Astronomy and Space Science (EWASS)
in Rome, Italy.
Abstracts for contributed talks and posters can be submitted until
11th May 2012
on the following web page:
http://www.isdc.unige.ch/astroh/ewass_sps8
EWASS 2012 - Symposium 4
The Galactic Plane Reloaded:
A Brand New Multiwavelength Milky Way from TeV to Mhz
-----------------------------------------------------
The main aim of this Symposium is to bring together communities active
in different topics and different ranges of the electromagnetic
spectrum in Galactic Astronomy, to create synergies and maximize the
power of multi-wavelength and multi-mission research to boost
knowledge advancement.
Scientific Contributions are solicited in the form of oral
presentations (15 minutes) and Posters. The deadline for abstract
submission is
11th May 2012
Information for abstract submission and financial support request is
available on the Symposium 4 website
http://herschel.ifsi-roma.inaf.it/mwgp/
Information regarding the EWASS 2012 Meeting venue and registration
can be found at:
