ROSAO - ROSAT Proposal Info and Abstracts

Overview

The ROSAO database contains a complete list of all accepted ROSAT AO proposals. The total observation time amounts to 180% of that available, with a 1st, 2nd, 3rd priority system used to establish the probability of an observation taking place. All priority 1 and 2 observations will be eventually be made. The priority 3 observations are used to fill gaps in the observing program and not all will be performed.

Data Products

The single data product associated with the entries in this table is an ASCII file that contains the proposal abstract.

Parameters

ROR
The ROR number.

Name
The target name, as given by the PI.

Alt_Name
An alternate target name, if present.

RA
The requested RA pointing position.

Dec
The requested Dec pointing position.

LII
The requested galactic longitude.

BII
The requested galactic latitude.

PI
The last name of the principal investigator.

Fname_PI
The first name of the principal investigator.

Country
The country of the PI.

Pno
The proposal number.

Tno
The target number.

AO_Number
The AO number (1, 2, 3, or 4).

Exposure
The total requested time in seconds.

Constraint_Flag
Does the observation have any time constraints? (Y or N)

Priority
The priority of the observation: P1 and P2 will get done, P3 are used as fillers and many are unlikely to be selected.

Category
The Subject Category. Possible values are:

     1 - Normal stars
     2 - White dwarfs
     3 - Cataclysmic variables
4 - Neutron stars, black holes
     5 - Supernova remnants
     6 - Normal galaxies
     7 - AGN
     8 - Clusters of galaxies
     9 - Diffuse X-ray emission
    10 - Other

Inst_Code
A 3-digit code representing the instruments requested for the observation. (First digit = PSPC, second digit = HRI, third digit = WFC. For PSPC, 0=device not used, 1=primary instrument, and 2=secondary instrument.)

Instrument
The instrument used in observing the target.

File_Name
Unique file name for abstracts

Class
BROWSE classification for the target.
