Welcome to the Live from RXTE! project!

This site is dedicated to a project involving the Rossi X-ray Timing Explorer satellite, scientists at NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center, and teachers and students in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia.

Our project can be described as follows: We propose to have the RXTE satellite look at a source called X1700-377 so that we may perform the following data analyses.

  • Allow the scientific analysis of the data as a probe of the stellar wind structure of this unusual binary system;
  • Provide students at a network of Shenandoah Valley schools a hands-on experience in scientific data collection and analysis.
