Ilana received her B.S. in Physics and Mathematics in 1986 from Pierre et Marie Curie University in Paris, France and her Ph.D in Physics/Astrophysics from Columbia University (New York) in 1997.
While a graduate student, she spent 4 years in Cambridge (MA) as a Predoctoral Fellow at the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics .
She returned to CfA for a post-doctoral position until May 1999. In September 1999, she joined GSFC/USRA as a member of the ASTRO-E GOF. She is currently a member of the XMM GOF.
