ROSAT Status Report #71:

Nov 19, 1993

ROSAT Z-AXIS GYRO FAILS

ROSAT entered a safe-hold mode on Thursday, November 18, after its Z-axis gyroscope failed. Attitude control software to accommodate such a failure had already been written and tested, but has not yet been loaded into the satellite attitude control system. There is no indication when operations will be restored, and it is unknown whether there will be new limitations on the pointing operations.
