Like the HEASARC gopher server, its WWW server is relatively new. New
documents and capabilities are being added at an ``astronomical" (har har) rate.
The ``What's New" link provides the user with an up-to-date list of recently
added information and services.
The HEASARC home page provides access to the Guest Observer Facilities (GOFs)
for the ROSAT, ASCA, CGRO, and XTE missions. Each GOF has its own home page,
which gives access to mission-specific information and news. The GOF home
pages give users news updates on the status of mission operations, software
releases, and proposal deadlines. On-line versions of the most recent issues of
the ROSAT Newsletter and ASCANews also are available from the GOF pages. In
addition, these home pages link directly to each mission's area of the
anonymous ftp and gopher servers.
In addition to the GOF home pages, the HEASARC home page is linked to the
Astrophysics Data Facility (ADF). The ADF provides users with updates on
the status of data processing for a variety of missions. One can select
a specfic mission from the ADF home page, or link to the mission's data center
via the GOF home page.
This link is a ``jumping off" point for calibration data sets, software and
documentation. It also links to the ``caldb" directories of the ftp and gopher
servers, as well as to each of the GOF home pages.
This link is a regulary-updated list of meetings pertaining to High Energy
Astrophysics. Each meeting in the list is linked its announcement and further
details.
The High Energy Missions link lists past, current, and future missions in high
energy astrophysics. Each mission has a summary of the its instrumentation,
specific features, and science. In the future, this list will provide links to
more detailed information on each mission as well as to a mission bibliography.
Users interested in seeing the results of some high energy astrophysics
missions can select the ``Images" link. This link is to color images obtained
from past and current missions, as well as to the ROSAT CD ROM images.
The Staff link contains a listing of HEASARC staff, divided by mission and
by specialty. The list is linked to short bios and contact information for
each staff member.
In addition to the WWW, the HEASARC provides a number of other information
services. This link provides a gateway to services such as the ftp and gopher
servers. It also allows users to login to the xray account and run BROWSE from
the WWW, and to perform e-mail searches of the HEASARC databases. Moreover,
users can access information about subscribing to the HEASARC's many mailing
lists, and get month-by-month usage statistics for the HEASARC's WWW, ftp, and
gopher servers.
The user will notice small, clickable ``buttons" on each of the HEASARC WWW
pages. These buttons were designed to provide easy navigation within the
HEASARC Web. For example, at the top of each page is a set of buttons that
indicates where in the HEASARC ``tree" the page lies. Each button provides a
link to the pages higher up the tree. At the bottom of each page are a
standard set of buttons that link to common ``jumping off" pages for the
HEASARC. Pages also may contain buttons linking the user to pages that precede
or follow the current page in a specific ``weblet."
