XTEMLCAT - XTE Mission-Long Source Catalog

HEASARC
Archive

Overview

This table contains the RXTE Mission-Long Source Catalog. It is generated from the RXTE Mission-Long Data Products, which are based on the standard data products (StdProds) from the PCA and HEXTE, for over 200 sources that have been observed many times with RXTE during its mission.

Please refer to the RXTE GOF documentation for more information.

References

The contents of this catalog are derived from the RXTE mission-long data products located at http://heasarc.gsfc.nasa.gov/FTP/xte/data/archive/MissionLongData/.

Provenance

This database table, first created in April 2008, contains the RXTE Mission-Long Source Catalog created by RXTE GOF. The catalog is updated by the RXTE GOF on a monthly basis; this HEASARC Browse table will be updated within one week of any updates made by the RXTE GOF.

Data Products

A description of the different types of mission-long data products accessible via this table is available in the RXTE GOF documentation.

Caveats

The mission-long data products are intended to give a researcher an idea of how much, and what quality of, data are available in the RXTE public archive for their sources of interest. They are not meant to replace the careful reduction and analysis by individual scientists, but rather to lead them towards data that will be suitable to their needs. Users should bear in mind that only a single point is included for an observation. And thus the impressive variability seen by many RXTE targets on short timescales is entirely overlooked in the mission-long light curves.

Parameters

Source_ID
This is the unique source identifier used as the basis for naming the corresponding RXTE mission-long data products.

Name
The SIMBAD-compatible designation of the X-ray source.

RA
The Right Ascension of the X-ray source in the selected equinox. This was given in J2000.0 coordinates to a precision of 0.001 degrees in the original data.

Dec
The Declination of the X-ray source in the selected equinox. This was given in J2000.0 coordinates to a precision of 0.001 degrees in the original data.

LII
The Galactic Longitude of the X-ray source, as derived from the Equatorial J2000.0 position.

BII
The Galactic Latitude of the X-ray source, as derived from the Equatorial J2000.0 position.

Time
The start time of the first RXTE observation used to compile the mission-long data product(s) for this X-ray source.

End_Time
The stop time of the last RXTE observation used to compile the mission-long data product(s) for this X-ray source.

Num_ObsIDs
The number of RXTE Observation IDs used to compile the mission-long data product(s) for this X-ray source.

Num_PCA_Pts
The number of points plotted in the PCA plots.

Num_HEXTE_Pts
The number of points plotted in the HEXTE plots.
