XRBCAT - X-Ray Binaries Catalog

HEASARC
Archive

Overview

XRBCAT is a catalog of X-ray binaries, based on the van Paradijs (1996) compilation, and updated by Nick White to include all the new (mostly transient) systems discovered since then up until the last update (see below). The information in XRBCAT is basic and does not attempt to be complete. It includes the name of the source, the position, the pulse or orbital period (if one is known), the object class, a flux (a maximum and, if available, a minimum), and an optical V magnitude (if available). To reference XRBCAT, please use the following acknowledgment:

"This paper utilized the HEASARC XRBCAT X-ray Binary catalog".

Since it is a very time consuming task to keep track of all the new sources and discoveries, there may be incomplete or missing sources.

This catalog was last updated on April 22, 1998.

Parameters

Name
The designation of the source.

RA
The Right Ascension of the source.

Dec
The Declination of the source.

LII
The Galactic longitude of the source.

BII
The Galactic latitude of the source.

MII
The Galactic longitude of the source in the +/- 180-degree range.

Porb
The orbital period, in days.

Vmax
The maximum V magnitude or reported value.

Vmin
The minimum V magnitude (if known or relevant).

Fxmax
The maximum flux or reported value, in µJy.

   1 µJy = 0.242 x 10-11 erg cm-2 s-1 keV-1 ~ 1 mCrab

Fxmin
The minimum flux (if known or relevant), in µJy.

   1 µJy = 0.242 x 10-11 erg cm-2 s-1 keV-1 ~ 1 mCrab

Flag
If the flag equals '*', then the minimum flux is an upper bound.

BV_Color
The B-V color (if known or relevant).

UB_Color
The U-B color (if known or relevant).

Pulse_Per
The pulse period, in seconds.

Class
The HEASARC Browse classification.
