ATLAS5P5GH - AT Large Area Survey (ATLAS) E-CDF-S 5.5-GHz Components Catalog

Overview

Star-forming galaxies are thought to dominate the sub-mJy radio population, but recent work has shown that low-luminosity active galactic nuclei (AGNs) can still make a significant contribution to the faint radio source population. Spectral indices are an important tool for understanding the emission mechanism of the faint radio sources. The authors have observed the extended Chandra Deep Field South at 5.5 GHz using a mosaic of 42 pointings with the Australia Telescope Compact Array (ATCA). Their image reaches an almost uniform sensitivity of ~ 12 µJy (µJy) rms over 0.25 deg2 with a restoring beam of 4.9 arcsec x 2.0 arcsec, making the ATLAS 5.5-GHz survey one of the deepest 6-cm surveys to date. This table contains the 5.5 GHz catalog of 142 source components corresponding to the 123 sources in this field: the source counts from this field are discussed in the reference paper.

Provenance

This table was created by the HEASARC in February 2013 based on the electronic version of Table 1 from the reference paper which was obtained from the MNRAS web site.

Parameters

Source_ID
A unique source identifier. The presence of a letter, 'a', 'b', etc., indicates that the entry corresponds to a component of a multiple source.

Name
The IAU-Style source designation based on the J2000.0 equatorial coordinates of the source/source component , e.g.,, 'ATCDFS5 JHHMMSS.ss-DDMMSS.s' for Australia Telescope Chandra Deep Field South at 5.5 GHz.

RA
The Right Ascension of the radio source or component in the selected equinox. The RA was given in J2000.0 coordinates to a precision of 0.01 seconds of time in the original table.

Dec
The Declination of the radio source or component in the selected equinox. The RA was given in J2000.0 coordinates to a precision of 0.1 arcseconds in the original table.

LII
The Galactic Longitude of the radio source or component.

BII
The Galactic Latitude of the radio source or component.

Flux_5p5_GHz
The 5.5-GHz peak flux density of the radio source or component, in mJy/beam (converted by the HEASARC from the µJy/beam units used in the original table).

Flux_5p5_GHz_Error
The uncertainty in the 5.5-GHz peak flux density of the radio source or component, in mJy/beam (converted by the HEASARC from the µJy/beam units used in the original table).

Int_Flux_5p5_GHz
The 5.5-GHz integrated flux density of the radio source or component, in mJy (converted by the HEASARC from the uJy units used in the original table). A null value (and a value of the resolved_flag parameter of 0) indicates that the source was not successfully deconvolved and hence no integrated flux density is given.

Resolved_Flag
This Boolean flag parameter is set to 1 to indicate that the source was resolved and successfully deconvolved, whereas if not successfully deconvolved the value is 0.

Major_Axis
The deconvolved major axis of the source or source component, in arcseconds, for extended sources. For the other (point) sources, it is left as a null value.

Minor_Axis
The deconvolved minor axis of the source or source component, in arcseconds, for extended sources. For the other (point) sources, it is left as a null value.

Position_Angle
The deconvolved position angle (measured from North to East) of the source or source component, in degrees, for extended sources. For the other (point) sources, it is left as a null value.

RMS_5p5_GHz
The local rms noise level, in mJy/beam (converted by the HEASARC from the µJy/beam units used in the original table).
