Invisible Tables & Figures

Problem:
People who have changed their XMOSAIC (etc) default background colour to black are unable to see the tables, figures, symbols since the GIFs are displayed as black-on-black under html.

Solution:
Re-run latex2html, but without running the giftrans routine (which can be turned off using via the GIFTRANS environment variable in the latex2html.config file). This will result in the background colour of all GIFs being set to white (whilst the foreground colour used for the text/image remains black) and hence visible. HOWEVER: remember that black is not the default background colour for most WWW viewers, and the GIFs with white backgrounds produced by not running giftrans may annoy users who do have kept their background colour the default when viewing documents with many inlined mathematical sysmbols (see Section 8.3.1).
