The Kepler Supernova Remnant
This High-Resolution Imager (HRI) image shows the considerable detailed structure of the Kepler
supernova remnant. The supernova was observed by the German astronomer
Johannes Kepler in the year 1604. Today we see the X-rays produced by the
hot plasma left over from the explosion.
