THE OGIP ROSAT PSPC CALIBRATION GUIDE
-is now available on the legacy ftp account. The document is available under /caldb/docs/rosat/calguide/
This is a working Document, and major revisions will be made as the status of the PSPC changes. Contributions from the community are welcomed, please send comments, corrections or contributions to Jane Turner (LHEAVX::TURNER) or Ian George (LHEAVX::GEORGE).
!!! WARNING !!! Several of the files are very large (See listing below) Under unix/ultrix, these large files may need to be printed using the "lpr -s" option.
There are 3 products currently available:
1) A PS file of the entire document
pspc_guide.ps
2) A PS file of each chapter and appendix named chapter_1.ps, chapter_2.ps, ... appendix_a.ps, appendix_b.ps ..etc (Copy and print these if pspc_guide.ps is too large for your system)
3) The LaTeX source files the following table should help identify the elements:

(To make your own dvi or ps file copy all the text files and run LaTex twice on pspc_guide.tex).
The following ascii files are not included in the latex part of the document, but should be printed out separately in landscape mode and added to the end of Appendix B.
pv_list.ascii An ascii list of the sequences making up the PV phase of the mission. cal_list.ascii An ascii list of the sequences making up the calibration and maintenance observations. cal_sched.ascii An ascii list providing some supplementary information about the calibration and maintenance observations.
- - Users wishing to LaTeX these files at their home institute are advised that the copious use of auto labeling requires that LaTeX be executed twice in order to create & use the necessary AUX files.
- - The Figures are postscript files whose name reflects the figure number. These files do not include the figure caption, this is so that figures can be added in future without the need to recreate old figures with a new caption. The captions are printed on a separate sheet at the end of each chapter. The quality of the scanned figures is limited by the quality of the originals available to GSFC.
- - We wish to stress that the document is not yet complete and that there are a number of areas where question marks have deliberately been left in the document. There are also a number of areas which cannot be completed at this time. Figure 1.2 is not yet available. Significant updates to the Guide will be announced in email status reports.
