POINTSRC

Description:

pointsrc calculates the appropriate extragalactic background scale factor for Xspec for several different models and user-selected parameters including the excision of point sources to a specified source flux.

Requirements:

20ptNo specific requirements.

Calling Parameters:

20ptfunc – Model of the extragalactic X-ray luminosity function to be used for the calculation:

20pthms (Hasinger, Miyaji, & Schmidt 2005)

20ptmushotzky (Mushotzky et al. 2000)

20ptcappelluti (Cappelluti et al. 2008)

20ptmateos (Mateos et al. 2008)

20ptminsrcflux – Minimum source flux in units of ergs cm$^{-2}$ s$^{-1}$

20ptcxrbnorm – Cosmic X-ray background normalization in units of photons cm$^{-2}$ s$^{-1}$ sr$^{-1}$ keV$^{-1}$ at 1 keV.

20ptindex – Optional parameter for index of unresolved spectrum defaults to 1.46.

Output:

20ptXspec normalization for the extragalactic power law in units of photons cm$^{-2}$ s$^{-1}$ arcmin$^{-2}$ keV$^{-1}$.

Example:

point-source func=mateos minsrcflx=1.e-14 cxrbnorm=10.6 index=1.46
