ASCA Cherry Blossom Workshop April 2-4, 1997
ASCA "Cherry Blossom" Workshop (April 2-4, 1997)
------------------------------------------------
The ASCA Guest Observer Facility is sponsoring a three day workshop to hear
the latest results from ASCA, discuss calibration and analysis techniques, and
consider future observing strategies. This workshop will be held April 2-4,
1997 in a downtown Washington DC hotel (to be determined). The workshop is
timed to coincide with the peak of the Cherry Blossom display. The famous
trees, a gift from Japan in 1912, signal the coming of Spring with an
explosion of life and color surrounding the Jefferson Memorial on the Tidal
Basin in a sea of pink and white. By holding the workshop at this time, the
cherry blossom display will symbolize the successful Japan-US ASCA
collaboration. Attendance will be limited to 150 people, with preference given
to PIs and CoIs from the ASCA guest observer program.
The meeting will be a mixture of invited reviews, contributed talks and poster
sessions. Funding is available to support travel to the meeting, with priority
given to ASCA PIs and CoIs. The workshop deadlines are as follows:
Early Registration - 1997 Jan 31
Abstract Submission - 1997 Feb 15
Registration Deadline - 1997 March 15
The registration fee will be $145 for those who register by the early
registration deadline, and $175 after that. This includes the cost of the
breakfast buffet, breaks and a reception on the evening of April 1.
Further details on the meeting and how to register can be found at
