Overview

This table contains the results from a study of the X-ray to optical properties of a sample of 545 X-ray selected Type 1 AGN, from the XMM-Newton Cosmic Evolution (XMM-COSMOS) survey, over a wide range of redshifts (0.04 < z < 4.25) and X-ray luminosities (40.6 <= log(L2-10keV) <= 45.3). About 60% of them are spectroscopically identified Type 1 AGN, while the others have a reliable photometric redshift and are classified as Type 1 AGN on the basis of their multi-band Spectral Energy Distributions (SEDs). In the reference, the authors discuss the relationship between UV and X-ray luminosity, as parametrized by the X-ray to optical-UX alphaox spectral slope, and its dependence on redshift and luminosity.

Herein optical and X-ray properties for 545 Type 1 AGN in XMM-COSMOS are presented. For each source, X-ray ID, spectroscopic redshift, photometric redshift, upper error on the photometric redshift, lower error on the photometric redshift, logarithm of the monochromatic luminosity at 2500 Angstroms, logarithm of the monochromatic luminosity at 2 keV, alphaox, logarithm of the 2-10 keV luminosity, logarithm of the bolometric luminosity in solar units, bolometric correction, photometric classification, logarithm of the Eddington ratio, logarithm of the black hole mass in solar masses, and a flag for the 2-10 keV detection (flag = 1 [343 entries] means a detection in the 2-10 keV band, while flag = 0 is for 2-10 keV upper limits) are given.

Provenance

This table was created by the HEASARC in May 2010 based on CDS catalog J/A+A/512/A34 file table2.dat.

Parameters

Source_Number
The XMM-COSMOS source identification number. This is a sequential unique identification number for each X-ray source in this catalog, the so-called XID identification number. This internal reference number scheme is from Hasinger et al. (2007, ApJS/172, 29).

Alt_Name
The X-ray source name, using one of the officially recognized designations, namely the XMMC prefix (for XMM-Newton, COSMOS) and the source number.

Name
The IAU-Style position-based source designation, i.e., XMMU JHHMMSS.s+DDMMSS, where HHMMSS.s+DDMMSS are the J2000.0 equatorial coordinates of the source. This was taken from Cappelluti et al.(2009, A&A, 497, 635) using the source number to match sources in this table.

RA
The Right Ascension of the X-ray source in the selected equinox. This was given in J2000.0 coordinates to a precision of 10-6 degrees in the original table (the XMMCOSMOS table in Browse, taken from Cappelluti et al. (2009, A&A, 497, 635) using the source number to match sources in this table.

Dec
The Declination of the X-ray source in the selected equinox. This was given in J2000.0 coordinates to a precision of 10-6 degrees in the original table (the XMMCOSMOS table in Browse, taken from Cappelluti et al. (2009, A&A, 497, 635) using the source number to match sources in this table

LII
The Galactic Longitude of the X-ray source.

BII
The Galactic Latitude of the X-ray source.

Redshift
The spectroscopic redshift of the object. See Section 2.1 of the reference paper for more details.

Phot_Redshift
The photometric redshift of the object. See Section 2.1 of the reference paper for more details.

Phot_Redshift_Pos_Err
The upper uncertainty in the photometric redshift.

Phot_Redshift_Neg_Err
The lower uncertainty in the photometric redshift.

Log_2500a_Luminosity
The logarithm of the rest-frame monochromatic UV luminosity at 2500 Angstroms, log L2500A, in erg s-1 Hz -1. See Section 3 of the reference paper for more details.

Log_2keV_Luminosity
The logarithm of the rest-frame monochromatic luminosity at 2 keV, log L2keV, in erg s-1 Hz -1. See Section 3 of the reference paper for more details.

OX_Spectral_Index
The ratio of X-ray to optical/UV luminosity alphaox in the object defined as given by equation (1) in the reference paper, viz., alphaox = -log(L2keV/L2500A)/2.605.

Log_Lx
The logarithm of the rest-frame X-ray luminosity in the 2-10 keV energy range, in erg s-1.

Log_Lbol
The logarithm of the bolometric luminosity, in solar luminosities, log Lbol, computed as described in Section 3.1 of the reference paper.

Bolometric_Correction
The bolometric correction, kbol, from the 2-10 keV flux, as defined as given by equation (2) in the reference paper, viz., kbol = Lbol/L2-10keV.

SED_Model_Class
The photometric classification of the SED of the object, defined as discussed in Section 2 of the reference paper. The SED model of the best-fit template is coded from 1 to 30, as described in Salvato et al. (2009ApJ...690.1250S), and listed in the file http://cdsarc.cds.unistra.fr/ftp/cats/J/A+A/512/A34/type.dat.

Log_Eddington_Ratio
The logarithm of the Eddington ratio of the object, defined as log(lambdaEdd) = log(Lbol/LEdd), where the Eddington luminosity is 1.38E38 * MBH, where MBH is the mass of the AGN's black hole in solar masses.

Log_BH_Mass
The logarithm of the mass of the AGN's black hole mass, in units of solar masses.

Xray_Detection_Flag
This X-ray source detection flag is set as follows: to 1 for a 2-10 keV detection, or to 0 for a 2-10 keV upper limit.
