ROSAT Guest Observer Facility

How can I find out what's available in the GSFC ROSAT archive?

  • ROSAT data can be accessed from the HEASARC archive for the PSPC and the HRI instruments. Data are stored by sequence ID number (a 6 digit number). The first digit in the sequence ID number give the source category (1 = calibration observations; 2 = stars; 3 = cataclysmic variables; 4 = X-ray binaries; 5 = supernova remnants; 6 = galaxies; 7 = active galaxies; 8 = clusters of galaxies; and 9 = miscellaneous).
  • Users can also use the w3browse archive interface to search for ROSAT data from the PSPC and HRI using user-specified criteria.
