These obsolete and unsupported versions of FITSIO should only be used in exceptional cases where the latest CFITSIO release cannot be used.

CFITSIO: v2.510 (released December 2004). This was the last major release of CFITSIO prior to the release of Version 3.0.

• Complete Package (2.0 MB): Unix/VMS .tar file, or DOS/Windows .zip file

CFITSIO: v1.42 (released April 1998). This was the last major release of CFITSIO prior to the release of Version 2.0.

• Complete Package (1.6 MB): Unix/VMS .tar file, or DOS/Windows .zip file

FITSIO: v5.03 (released 1 August 1997). This is the last release of the old FITSIO subroutine library written entirely in Fortran-77. This library is obsolete and is no longer maintained, so most Fortran programmers should now use CFITSIO v2.0, which contains a Fortran-callable interface layer which looks nearly identical to the old FITSIO subroutines.

  The v4.14 version of FITSIO that is compatible with some older Fortran-77 compilers, expecially on IBM PCs running DOS, is also still available here.
