Legacy masthead

This Circinus X-1 plot was generated from the Vela 5B data by "mapping" the data into 112-hour bins (see Whitlock, Lochner and Rhode, 1992, Legacy 2). While the 16.6-day orbital period is clearly detected over the 10 years of observation, the long-term activities seen in this plot are unique to the continuous all-sky scans provided by the Vela monitor.
