XSA V12.2 RELEASE WITH ACCESS TO 4XMM-DR9 Spectral Energy Distributions

The new version of the XMM-Newton Science Archive, XSA v12.2, is
   available at

              [4]https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=https-3A__www.cosmos.esa.int_web_xmm-2Dnewton_xsa&d=DwIDaQ&c=ApwzowJNAKKw3xye91w7BE1XMRKi2LN9kiMk5Csz9Zk&r=PguJlcflNO5m9f6ywGg8-x574VwMOcd83ddSjun5t-k&m=yHxBne6-tjlh8Lv4P4JUzKTG-gCUJoM8GTv9BluB9gI&s=ZHjUNAzPsPfP-7R5Yw8MqoqDXw7r7R51qic5Jpi6494&e=

This version provides access to the 4XMM-DR9 Spectral Energy
Distribution (SED), SED FITS files and plots produced by the XMM-Newton
   Survey Science Centre.

   Other new funcionalities are:
     * Links to the 4XMM-DR9 source information available at IRAP
       ([5]https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=http-3A__xmm-2Dcatalog.irap.omp.eu_&d=DwIDaQ&c=ApwzowJNAKKw3xye91w7BE1XMRKi2LN9kiMk5Csz9Zk&r=PguJlcflNO5m9f6ywGg8-x574VwMOcd83ddSjun5t-k&m=yHxBne6-tjlh8Lv4P4JUzKTG-gCUJoM8GTv9BluB9gI&s=aQKUJud-G9WMYOazOXr9frWvyD2C_GEdUrlDKB8b_og&e=
 ) and at XCAT-DB
       ([6]https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=http-3A__xcatdb.unistra.fr_4xmmdr9_index.html&d=DwIDaQ&c=ApwzowJNAKKw3xye91w7BE1XMRKi2LN9kiMk5Csz9Zk&r=PguJlcflNO5m9f6ywGg8-x574VwMOcd83ddSjun5t-k&m=yHxBne6-tjlh8Lv4P4JUzKTG-gCUJoM8GTv9BluB9gI&s=HhZRJBWbIrMRIUkOpm5fCiXMwxNNWjigjiRjwG05qJ0&e=
 ).
     * Visualization of the PPS EPIC background time-series plots.
     * Visualization of EPIC images of moving targets in their reference
       frame.
     * An astroquery module that provides access to the XSA database
       (astroquery.esa.xmm_newton) has been created.

  THE 4XMM-DR9 Spectral Energy Distributions

Spectral Energy Distributions (SEDs) have been produced by the Survey
Science Centre (SSC). SEDs are provided for each of the unique and
spatially unresolved 4XMM sources matching at least one of the archival
catalogues queried. Whenever several combinations of UV to radio
counterparts yield matching probabilities higher than 1%, up to three
of the most likely combinations are produced.

The tools used are basically the same as those developed for the ARCHES
project ([7]Motch et al. 2017). The ARCHES algorithm ([8]Pineau et al.
2017) cross-matches in a single pass all catalogues and, for each
combination of catalogue entries, computes the cross-matching
probability. Probabilities are derived from the likelihood that sources
in the different catalogues have exactly the same position on the sky,
   considering their astrometric uncertainties.

Several combinations of catalogues were selected in different sky
regions in order to optimize the depth of the photometry, the number of
matches and the astrometric accuracy of the SEDs. The UV band was
covered by Galex GR6+7 and XMM-OM-SUSS4.1. In the optical band,
catalogues were prioritised in the following order, SDSS12, PanStarrs
DR1 and Skymapper, so as to cover the entire sky, complemented with
GAIA DR2 and APASS9. 2MASS, allWISE and AKARI cover the infrared
wavelength range while possible matches with radio sources are
extracted from the FIRST and NVSS catalogues.

More details are available in Webb et al. 2020:

         [9]https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=http-3A__xmmssc.irap.omp.eu_Catalogue_4XMM-2DDR9_4XMMv4.pdf&d=DwIDaQ&c=ApwzowJNAKKw3xye91w7BE1XMRKi2LN9kiMk5Csz9Zk&r=PguJlcflNO5m9f6ywGg8-x574VwMOcd83ddSjun5t-k&m=yHxBne6-tjlh8Lv4P4JUzKTG-gCUJoM8GTv9BluB9gI&s=XBy6wHpHd0zRckLtVNPH_ZMDCWX1irJZrVqWg2u-Bfg&e=

Table 4 of [10]Webb et al. 2020 lists the spatial overlap of 4XMM-DR9
with the largest multi-wavelength catalogues currently available at
   CDS.

XMM-Newton 20th Anniversary Web Pages

The Web pages dedicated to the celebration of the 20 years in orbit of
XMM-Newton have been updated with material from the XMM-Newton 20th
Anniversary Special Event, that was held at ESAC on 10-11 December
   2019.

On the XMM-Newton SOC event Web page

    [11]https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=https-3A__www.cosmos.esa.int_web_xmm-2Dnewton_20th-2Danniversary-2Devent&d=DwIDaQ&c=ApwzowJNAKKw3xye91w7BE1XMRKi2LN9kiMk5Csz9Zk&r=PguJlcflNO5m9f6ywGg8-x574VwMOcd83ddSjun5t-k&m=yHxBne6-tjlh8Lv4P4JUzKTG-gCUJoM8GTv9BluB9gI&s=S1Ubpa0-iuRoK6Bn0ICykn_oKzFl0Ss78QfBvBDXRlA&e=

you can find details of the program as well as all the downloadable pdf
   and videos of the presentations.

   On the celebration Web page

                     [12]https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=http-3A__xmm20anniversary.esa.int&d=DwIDaQ&c=ApwzowJNAKKw3xye91w7BE1XMRKi2LN9kiMk5Csz9Zk&r=PguJlcflNO5m9f6ywGg8-x574VwMOcd83ddSjun5t-k&m=yHxBne6-tjlh8Lv4P4JUzKTG-gCUJoM8GTv9BluB9gI&s=CRqn-87B5S-wEXQG9ENMm7WLDEB09bAKYti_ZusXa88&e=

you can now find the official video of the event, a Virtual Reality
room with XMM-Newton in 3D, illustrations and visual thinking
representations of presenters and presentations, comics, material from
the artwork exhibition and much more.

We will keep updating the celebration Web Pages with information,
   events and online material.
