1. Workshop Announcement: The X-ray Mysteries of Neutron Stars and White Dwarfs
The XMM-Newton Science Operations Centre is organising a major
astrophysical workshop
The X-ray Mysteries of Neutron Stars and White Dwarfs
from Wednesday 5th to Friday 7th June 2024
at ESAC
The X-ray emission from neutron stars and white dwarfs has been a
subject of extensive research, unveiling unique insights into the
high-energy phenomena occurring within these compact stellar remnants.
In this meeting, we gather experts from various disciplines to delve
into the latest advancements in understanding the X-ray emission
processes, its origin, and the astrophysical implications associated
with neutron stars and white dwarfs.
More details will be announced in the coming weeks in the [3]Workshop
Web Page.
2. ESA Research Fellowships in Space Sciences
ESA's postdoctoral Research Fellowship programme offers early-career
scientists and engineers the possibility to carry out research in a
variety of disciplines related to Space Science, Space Applications or
Space Technology. Research Fellowships in Space Science specifically
offer the opportunity to contribute to ESA's endeavour to explore our
Solar System and the Universe, in the fields of Heliophysics, Planetary
Science, Astrophysics and Fundamental Physics.
Appointments are for a maximum of three years. The initial project is
for two years. An extension for a third year requires a dedicated
proposal and is very frequently granted.
Next call, for fellowships starting in Autumn 2024, will open on
28 August 2023
with an application deadline on
18 September 2023
More information on the Research Fellowship programme is available at
