XMM-Newton GOF-SOC News Issue #3 | October 30th, 2026 New Announcements Second Edition of The GOF-SOC Bulletin The second edition of the XMM-Newton General Observer Facility (GOF) and Science Operations Centre (SOC) bulletin has been released for the fall quarter! In the bulletin you will find the following: AO-26 Proposal Statistics: Cycle 26 closed on October 9 with 534 valid proposals, resulting in a 7.7 oversubscription rate. Approved programs will be announced in mid-December. New NASA Grant Requirements: As of September 1, 2026, NASA strictly requires the use of SciENcv for standardized biographical sketches and disclosure forms for all senior/key personnel on grant proposals. New U.S GOF Support Resources: Starting November 6, the GOF is hosting virtual Help Desk office hours via Teams every Friday from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. EST. Also, a new guide for submitting XMM budget proposals in NSPIRES will soon be available on the GOF webpage. Upcoming Events: A virtual PySAS/PyXspec workshop is being planned for Spring 2027, and the GOF team will be at the Winter 2027 AAS meeting in Salt Lake City (Table #1). Science PR Call: The GOF is actively collecting exciting science updates to share with NASA and ESA leadership. This cycle included opportunities for Joint Programmes with facilities such as VLT, NRAO, HST, JWST, Chandra, and a newly added partnership with IXPE. Proposal submissions are now closed.
