EXOSAT spectrum of Capella

EXOSAT spectrum of Capella

The spectrum of the hot corona around the late-type star Capella, obtained with the 500 l/mm transmission grating (TGS) shows numerous emission lines of highly ionized atoms. The spectrum is well described by the summed emission from an optically thin 3 million degree (blue) and and 18 million degree (red) plasma.
