[1] "THE X-RAY MYSTERIES OF NEUTRON STARS AND WHITE DWARFS" DEADLINE FOR ABSTRACT SUBMISSION: FRIDAY, 23RD FEBRUARY 2024
As announced in a [6]previous issue of the XMM-Newton Newsletter, the
XMM-Newton Science Operations Centre is organising the astrophysical
workshop "The X-ray Mysteries of Neutron Stars and White Dwarfs" from
5th to 7th June 2024.
We take the opportunity to remind of the deadline for abstract submission and other important dates:
Deadline for Abstract Submission
Friday 23rd February 2024
Notification to authors
Mid April 2024
Registration Deadline
Wednesday 29th May 2024
On-site Registration
Wednesday 5th June 2024

[2] Anticipated Timeline for next XMM-Newton Announcement of Opportunity: AO-24
The planned key milestones for the Twenty-fourth XMM-Newton
"Announcement of Opportunity" have been established. Within this AO-24
a new call to submit proposals for observations to be performed with
the XMM-Newton observatory will be issued.
To be prepared for this, please find below the anticipated timeline:
Announcement of Opportunity
20 August 2024
Due date for Proposals
11 October 2024 (12:00 UT)
Final OTAC approved programme
mid December 2024
For approved proposals only:
Start of Phase II proposal submission
8 January 2025
Closure of Phase II proposal submission
31 January 2025
Start of observations
May 2025
The official "Announcement of Opportunity" will be duly announced and
posted on the XMM-Newton Science Operations Centre [12]Home Page.
[3] XMM-Newton Users' Group: Minutes of Meeting available
The minutes of the XMM-Newton Users' Group Meeting #24, that took place
on May 10th and 11th 2023, are available at

[4] New HelpDesk Interface
We are pleased to announce the availability of the new XMM-Newton
HelpDesk Interface, at
[14]https://support.cosmos.esa.int/situ-service-desk/servicedesk/custom
er/portal/9
This service is open to individuals having a Cosmos account (the one
used to access the XMM Science Archive, XSA, and the Phase I of
Proposal Submission, XIPS).
Questions submitted through this form are by default public. They can
be made private selecting that option in the "Visibility" drop-down
menu at the bottom of the page.
Scientists not registered in Cosmos can send their requests only via
e-mail to [15]xmmhelp@sciops.esa.int. Questions submitted by e-mail are
private.
Currently there are a few or no questions available as public due to
the recent opening of the form. As the form becomes more widely used,
we anticipate that it will be beneficial to search for similar
questions before submitting your own.
