PIMMS: Chandra effective areas

By default, PIMMS is distributed with the latest Chandra effective area curves, driven by the need to estimate source count rates in proposals.

Due to the secular changes in ACIS response, this means that the default version is not suitable for estimating flux from count rates seen in previous observations. This shortcoming can be overcome by adding/substituting historical effective area curves. Please contact Koji Mukai if you need help in doing so.

Or you can use the CXC web-interface to PIMMS which contains older effective area curves for Chandra going back to Cycle 3.
