Multi-Mission Tools

These Web-based tools are designed to assist scientists in their proposal and general data analysis efforts. The HEASARC provides these tools as a service to the scientific community.   • Hera – Astronomical data analysis over the Internet
  • RPS – Remote Proposal System
  • Date/Time Converter (xTime) – Convert Fermi, RXTE, Suzaku, Swift, and XMM-Newton times to other time systems and formats, and vice versa
  • SkyView – The Internet's Virtual Telescope
  • Timeline Tool – Swift, RXTE and HETE-2 observation (as-flown) timelines
  • Viewing – Determine possible viewing times for missions and objects
  • WebPIMMS – Determine source flux or count rates
  • WebSpec – Simulate spectral data for missions/instruments

  • X-Ray Background Tool v3.0 released (15 Aug 2018)
    The X-Ray Background Tool has been enhanced with support for counts statistics and the generation of counts-based spectra.
  • xTime tool updated (14 Jun 2018)
    Added support for MAXI and Hitomi and restored support for Suzaku.
  • Timeline tool updated (15 May 2018)
    Support for NICER has been added to the Timeline tool.
  • xTime tool updated (09 Apr 2018)
    Support for NICER has been added to xTime. Also, the RXTE mission day number time formats, which were really only used in mission planning, have been removed.
  • Viewing tool updated (14 Dec 2017)
    The Sun angle constraint for NuSTAR observations has been updated in the Viewing tool to be greater than 43 degrees. This reflects the change by the NuSTAR Science Operations Center to ensure stable pointing. This new, slightly more restrictive range applies to all future ToO requests and Cycle 4 proposals.
