The EXOSAT Archive

artist concept of EXOSAT in space
The EXOSAT archive includes : Catalogs, High level products as spectra, lightcurves and images in FITS format, all accompany by a GIF view, and the raw data in their native format which are gradually reformatted in FITS. A description of the EXOSAT archive at HEASARC appeared in Legacy (Vol 6 page 20).

* Catalogs and databases : There are 14 catalogs and databases for the EXOSAT mission from which the data can be retrieved and/or viewed as well as information about observations or source detected. The catalogs and databases can be viewed via Browse .

* High level Products : The table gives an overview of data products present in the archive for each experiment. The experiment name links to pages that give information about the different data products. The empty boxes, Spectra for the LE and Images for the ME GSPC and TGS, indicate that such a product is not a direct measurement for that experiment. The EXOSAT products are in the EXOSAT FTP area in the HEASARC archive, but also on CDROMs

Medium Energy proportional counter (ME)   FITS, GIF FITS, GIF
Gas Scintilation Proportional Counter (GSPC)   FITS, GIF FITS, GIF

* Raw data: The table gives an overview of the raw data currently in the archive for each experiment. More information on the raw data, either in native or FITS format, is available using the links on the table left side. HEASARC is planning to convert all the raw EXOSAT data in FITS format. Currently the LE data processing is completed and the ME is underway. The EXOSAT Raw data (native format for all the experiment and the FITS file for the LE) are available in the EXOSAT FTP area in the HEASARC archive.
