NICER 2021 Workshop

Spring 2021 Data Analysis and Science Workshop

The Spring 2021 NICER Data Analysis and Science Workshop was held virtually from 9 am to 1 pm EDT Monday through Friday of the week of May 10th, 2021.

The primary objective of the workshop was to discuss data analysis techniques and new science results that maximize use of the unique timing and spectroscopy data provided by NICER.

Presentations on Monday and Tuesday covered data selection, background modeling, timing, and spectroscopy. Wednesday, May 12, was set aside for user analysis questions. Science presentations on Thursday and Friday were contributed by members of the community of users. A detailed schedule is shown below.

Presentation topics included:
  • Analysis, calibration, and tutorials
  • Neutron star systems
  • Black hole systems
  • Non-compact stars
  • Active galactic nuclei
  • Long term monitoring of transients.

Recordings of the sessions are provided as links in the agenda below. These will be replaced in the future with a longer-term video storage solution.
