API access is available through the Xamin API, the astroquery Heasarc module, or the Virtual Observatory protocols using pyvo. -
Cloud & Platforms
HEASARC@SciServer is an analysis-ready platform where both data and software are available through the browser.
The HEASARC is also part of the NASA Fornax Initiative to build NASA's next generation cloud-based science platform.
HEASARC data are available in the cloud and on SciServer. -
Software
- HEASoft 6.35.2 is now available.
- HEASoft and XSPEC are available as conda packages.
- HEASoft and other high energy software (CAIO, XMM-SAS, Fermitools, Spex etc) are installed and available on SciServer.

- NuSTAR Cycle 12 Now Accepting Proposals (21 Dec 2025)
The due date for NuSTAR Cycle 12 proposal submission is Jan 29, 2026. Proposals should be submitted via the HEASARC's ARK Remote Proposal System (RPS). For more information about this cycle, please visit the NuSTAR Proposal Guide Page. - NuSTAR Caldb Update (19 Dec 2025)
The NuSTAR FPM caldb was updated to version 20251215. This release includes a new clock correction file, v219 using a new temperature model. Please see the release notes for more details. - Chandra CALDB 4.12.3 installed at the HEASARC (18 Dec 2025)
The Chandra CalDB 4.12.3 is now installed in and available from the HEASARC CALDB. Chandra 4.12.3 was released by the CXC on December 16, 2025. - Fermitools 2.5.1 Released (18 Dec 2025)
The latest version, 2.5.1, of the Fermi analysis software, Fermitools, was released on December 18, 2025 - XRISM Cycle 3 call for GO proposals: (10 Dec 2025)
The XRISM Cycle 3 call for GO proposals has been announced and is now open. The due date for XRISM Cycle 3 proposal submission is February 27th, 2026. See the Proposals and Tools webpage for more information. - NASA PostDoctoral Fellowship - Deadline Extended (8 Dec 2025)
The NASA Postdoctoral Program (NPP) November 2025 cycle application deadline has been extended to Friday 19 December 2025 at 6p Eastern (3p Pacific). The NASA Postdoctoral Program offers US and international scientists the opportunity to advance their research while contributing to NASA's scientific goals. The NPP supports fundamental science; explores the undiscovered; promotes intellectual growth; and encourages scientific connections. Selected by a competitive peer-review process, NPP Fellows complete one- to three-year Fellowship appointments that advance NASA's missions in Earth science, planetary science, heliophysics, astrophysics, biological and physical science, aeronautics and engineering, human exploration systems, space operations, space technology, and astrobiology.
